Server Installation¶
A BlackICE server runs on Linux or Windows. The recommended way is using the official container image on linux.
Host requirements¶
| Processor | 64-bit (x86-64). Anything after 2013 should be compatible |
| Operating system | Linux, with a container runtime or a 64-bit Windows install |
| Memory | Minumum: 512MB just for the server process. Recommended: > 2GB |
| Disk | A couple of gigabytes. Depending on log frequency and bundles size |
| Network | An internet connection if you want players outside your network to join. Not needed for local sessions |
On Linux (with containers)¶
This is the recommended way to run a server, see Quick Start.
The image is available as ghcr.io/replayre/server.
Info
We provide the Containerfile and recommended compose.yml at github.com/replayre/server-container Use this as a resource if you want to change the deployment image to your liking, but be aware of the libstd requirements
On the first start the server prepares its own directory structure. In the
container this is /srv:
srv/
├── cfg/ server configuration
├── data/ugc/ bundles
├── logs/ server logs, kept for 7 days
├── settings/ update and channel settings
├── cache/
└── REServer, lib*.so the server itself
Only cfg/, data/ugc/ and logs/ are meant to be edited or mounted by
you. The rest is internal to the server and its updater.
On Windows¶
- Running the server on windows is also fully supported. Download and unpack this zip file into a folder of your choice.
- Rename
cfg/server.cfg.exampletocfg/server.cfg - Execute
REServer.exe
Follow the steps here to add your server to the global server list.
Next steps¶
- Configuration for your server's name, region and update channel
